I dreamed of combining the miracle of folk intonations that our Ukrainian people have been developing for thousands of years, the unique beauty of Kyivan chant with the depth of the spiritual texts of the Bible. It is in the Liturgy that one can express the most intimate things: a request for pardon and salvation of our souls, for the unity of God’s churches, for the preservation of life and spirituality. The days when I was working on the Solemn Liturgy were the happiest in my life…”
